On our third day in Dubai we took part in a guided city tour, which started at Palm Jumeirah (the famous palm island) and ended in Deira, the oldest part of Dubai. Palm Jumeirah is fascinating – you must imagine that over then years ago there had been nothing than the ocean! The first stop of the tour was a furnishing house, where you could buy Arabic furniture and decoration (cushions, candles, lamps, carpets, etc.) and Arabic clothes. I got myself a pillowcase and some other things (I’ll show you what I bought in another post!). After that we did a short stop at the Burj Al Arab (the only 7 star hotel in the world and therefore most luxurious hotel in the world) and at the Sheikh’s Palace (the Sheikh has more than 100 peacocks). Having arrived in Bur Dubai we once again took an abra (water taxi) to cross the Creek and get to Deira, where we, again, paid a visit to the Spice Souq and the Gold Souq.
In the evening we went to the Dubai Mall, about which I will write in another post!
